How We Work

Our design process begins with a consultation, when we talk to every client about their aspirations, ideas and inspiration for the unique piece they’d like to commission. We discuss the occasion and setting where the piece will be worn. Are you a bride, the mother of the bride or groom, the host of a fabulous party? Are you wishing for a wardrobe staple; a bespoke coat, or tailored suit for the workplace?

During the consultation sample garments can be tried on for the look and feel. Fabric choices, colour and design details are discussed, and we then provide a quotation. If a client wishes to confirm her commission we take measurements, produce a sketch and request a deposit before commencing the client’s pattern.

Designs are created on a mannequin and a “toile” (a mock up), is made for the first fitting. Adjustments are made to the pattern before cutting into the clients chosen fabric, and each piece evolves through fittings and conversation, until perfectly finished and ready to be worn. Allison’s wealth of experience results in flattering lines and proportions so every client will look and feel their best, whatever the occasion.
